NNRH hosts barbecue for first responders

May 20, 2018

ELKO, Nevada – Staff members from Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital celebrated National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week by hosting a barbecue for all Elko County first responders in the City Park.

“This is a small way for us to honor these heroes who put their lives on the line to save others,” said Jennifer Koopman, director of physician relations at NNRH. “From paramedics to firefighters, and from law enforcement officers to mine rescue personnel, our community is blessed with skilled first responders. Grilling up tri-tip for them is just one way to say thank you,” Koopman concluded.

One highlight of the event was the arrival of the Elko AirOne helicopter which landed in the middle of the park. After enjoying dinner, the flight crew conducted tours of the aircraft for members of the public.

National EMS Week is organized each year by the American College of Emergency Physicians and the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians. This year the celebration is being observed from May 20th to the 26th.
