Elko, NV  - May 7, 2012
John Elwood, staff pharmacist, was recently awarded Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital’s 2012 Mercy Award. This honor puts John Elwood in the running for LifePoint Hospital’s 2012 companywide Mercy Award, the highest honor an employee can receive from LifePoint Hospitals, Inc., Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital’s parent company.

The Mercy Award recognizes one employee who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded. The annual award was established in 2002 to honor the life of Scott Mercy, LifePoint’s founding Chairman and CEO.

The companywide winner will be honored at a ceremony during LifePoint’s Senior Leadership Retreat in Boston in June.

Human resource generalist/recruiter, Joseph Harding said, “As a hospital employee for twenty eight years, John is well known for his exemplary standard of performance. He cares for patients, families and staff with respect and dignity and is as great an asset to our community as he is to our hospital.”  Patient care is his mission.  “The energy and enthusiasm with which he goes about his life is remarkable,” said Brad Mabry, Assistant Administrator.  “His work ethic sets the standard as we strive to be a place where people choose to come for healthcare, physicians want to practice and employees want to work.”

“LifePoint Hospitals is committed to delivering quality patient care,” said Gene Miller, CEO. “We are extremely proud to recognize John for his efforts on behalf of our patients and our community. His exemplary work and compassion sets a high standard for healthcare professionals. We are proud to have him as part of our employee family. Undoubtedly, our patients benefit from the kind of commitment to excellence and to humanitarian concerns he demonstrates each and every day.”
